Privacy Policy

How we handle information from your visit.

What this website collects, the third-party services we link to, and your privacy rights — including under California law. Health information you share during care is governed separately by HIPAA.

What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to this website (mountainridgepediatrics.com) operated by Mountain Ridge Pediatrics ("we", "us", "our"). It explains what information our website collects when you visit, who else may receive that information, and the choices you have.

Health information you share with us during a medical visit, by phone, by fax, or through the Develo Family Portal is governed separately by federal HIPAA rules. See our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices for how we handle protected health information (PHI).

Information this website collects

We do not run any analytics, advertising, retargeting, or session-replay tools on this site. The site contains no form that submits visitor data to us — all booking, messaging, and intake happens through the Develo Family Portal or by phone. The only data your visit generates is the standard information any web browser sends to any web server, plus a small amount of information stored only in your own browser.

Server logs

Our hosting provider may keep brief access logs (IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp) for the purpose of operating and securing the website. These logs are not used for advertising and are not sold.

Browser storage on your device

We use your browser's localStorage to remember a single setting: your preferred language (English or Spanish), stored under the key mrp-lang. We may also store your accessibility preferences (motion, contrast, text size) under the key mrp-display-prefs. These settings never leave your device. We do not set any tracking cookies of our own.

Third-party services on this website

Some parts of this website load content from other companies. When that happens, your browser connects directly to those companies and they receive standard request information (such as your IP address, the page you are on, and your browser type). We disclose each one below.

Self-hosted webfonts

Our display typeface (Inter Tight) is served from our own website. Your browser does not connect to Google Fonts or any other font CDN.

Google Maps

On the home page and the contact page, we embed a Google Map showing our office location. The map iframe is set to loading="lazy", which means most browsers defer the request to Google until the map is near the viewport. When the map loads, Google receives standard request information (IP address, browser type). We send a referrer-policy header (no-referrer-when-downgrade) on the iframe to limit what Google learns about the page you came from. If you would prefer not to load the map, simply do not scroll to it; you can still use the "Open in Google Maps" link, which takes you to Google's site only when you click it.

Develo Family Portal

The "Family Portal" link in our header, footer, and mobile bar opens portal.letsdevelo.com/mrp, the patient portal operated by Develo for scheduling, secure messaging, billing, and access to your child's records. The portal opens in a new tab and is governed by Develo's privacy policy and our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices.

Links to other services

Our website contains outbound links to services and information sources operated by other organizations. Following these links takes you to those organizations' sites, which have their own privacy policies:

  • Telemedicine waiting roomsdoxy.me links for video visits with individual providers, operated by Doxy.me.
  • Social profiles — Mountain Ridge Pediatrics on Facebook (facebook.com/MountainRidgePediatrics) and Instagram (instagram.com/mountainridgepediatrics).
  • Health information sources — links to AAP (aap.org), CDC (cdc.gov), HealthyChildren.org, KidsHealth, and similar pediatric reference sites.
  • Community resources — links to Virginia state and Rockingham County health and family-support agencies, the Harrisonburg Rockingham Community Services Board, and similar local resources.
  • Hospital systems — links to Sentara RMH (sentara.com) and UVA Health children's services (uvahealth.com) for after-hours and emergency information.

We do not control how those organizations handle your information once you leave our website.

How we use information

We use the limited information our website collects only to:

  • Operate the website and keep it secure.
  • Remember your language and accessibility preferences between visits.
  • Let you reach our office through our phone number, fax, or the linked Develo Family Portal.

We do not sell or rent information collected through this website. We do not use it for advertising or to build profiles about visitors.

California privacy rights (CCPA / CPRA and CIPA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), gives you the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect about you and how it is used.
  • Request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
  • Be free from discrimination for exercising these rights.

To exercise these rights, contact us using the information at the bottom of this policy. We will respond within 45 days.

California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA)

We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, session replay, or other "wiretap"-style tracking on this website. The third-party content that loads is limited to what is listed in the "Third-party services" section above — a lazy-loaded Google Map on two pages and an outbound link to the Develo Family Portal. We do not have a chat widget, contact form, or any other interactive submission tool on this website. By visiting and continuing to use the website you acknowledge these services. If you would prefer the map not to load, simply do not scroll to it; you can still get directions via the text "Open in Google Maps" link, which takes you to Google's site only when you click it.

Children's privacy

This website provides information for parents and caregivers about pediatric care. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the website. Information that parents share with us as part of their child's medical care is handled under HIPAA and our Notice of Privacy Practices.

Security

We serve this website over HTTPS. We rely on our hosting provider and on the third-party services listed above to maintain reasonable, industry-standard security for the limited data they receive. No method of internet transmission is 100% secure.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our website or the services we use change. When we do, we will update the "Last reviewed" date at the bottom of this page. Material changes will be highlighted.
